The questions that decide whether a project happens

Is a battery financially viable for this site?

Compare battery sizes and operating strategies against hourly electricity prices, the site's consumption, solar production and technical constraints. Output: payback period, IRR and a monthly cost comparison against doing nothing.

What is the right configuration for a solar and battery project?

Test combinations of PV capacity and storage to see the effect on self-consumption, market revenue and overall investment performance. Find where adding capacity stops paying.

Would a battery pay for itself on our existing PV park?

No consumption data needed – upload your park's own annual production profile and model a battery retrofit against the hourly prices your generation actually earns.

Why the answer is different in the Baltics

Since early 2025, three structural changes have made defensible payback calculations harder in this market: decoupling from BRELL, coupling with PICASSO and MARI and changes in the way balancing services are funded. Generic assumptions do not produce a defensible number and STYO comes with the Baltic data already in it.

What's included

We keep the tariff and market data updated so it isn’t another spreadsheet for someone on your team to maintain.

Day-ahead pricesNord Pool EE, LV and LT price areas with hourly data from the past 365 days
Frequency & reserve marketsaFRR and mFRR for EE, LV and LT price areas with data from the past 365 days
Grid tariffsElektrilevi, Sadales tīkls and ESO grid tariff packages
Taxes & chargesWith or without EE, LV and LT VAT, including renewable charge and balancing services cost as applicable
ConsumptionUpload 15-minute metered data (XLSX/CSV) from any of the three biggest DSOs without any changes or use a standard load profile when the client can't share theirs

From enquiry to bank-ready model

First model in about a quarter of an hour. Every scenario after that in minutes.

1

Configure the project

About 10 minutes

Enter the site, PV capacity, battery size, grid connection and investment costs. Upload the client's 15-minute consumption data, pick a standard load profile if they can't provide it or, for an existing PV park, upload its own production profile. Market prices and grid tariffs are already loaded.

2

Run the simulation

Seconds

STYO simulates all 8,760 hours of the year using historical market and operating conditions, including battery dispatch and market participation.

3

Compare and export

Instant

See payback, IRR and cash flow for your project and export to XLSX or PDF. An AI assistant is available to support you when clients ask for additional details.

What you hand your client

Every simulation produces a complete financial model, exportable to XLSX and PDF:

  • Payback period and IRR
  • Cumulative cash flow over the project lifetime
  • Monthly electricity cost, with and without the system
  • Where the savings and revenues come from: self-consumption, market participation, avoided grid costs
  • The full assumption set, visible and auditable

Formatted for submission to a bank.

See how STYO could support your energy project

Book a personalised 30-minute demo to explore how STYO works with energy assets, market data and financial scenarios relevant to your business.

During the demo, we will:

  • discuss your project, assets and commercial objective;
  • show how an energy system is configured in STYO;
  • demonstrate how alternative scenarios are compared;
  • review the financial outputs relevant to your use case;
  • determine whether STYO is the right fit for your project.

No technical preparation is required.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I use STYO?

STYO can model electricity consumption, solar PV and battery economics in different combinations. It can be used for commercial and industrial sites, residential projects and stand-alone assets, depending on the business case you want to evaluate.

What input data does STYO use?

STYO uses Baltic market data for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, including day-ahead, aFRR and mFRR market data. Market data is connected through ENTSO-E. For project-specific simulations, you can also use your own site data, such as 15-minute consumption data or an existing PV production profile. If client-specific consumption data is not available, STYO can use a standard load profile.

Can I use STYO with my own client or project data?

Yes. You can upload project-specific inputs such as 15-minute consumption data, an existing PV production profile and your own investment assumptions. This allows you to model the actual site rather than rely only on generic profiles. If some data is not available, STYO can also use standard load profiles and its own location-based PV production model.

How reliable are the calculations?

No historical-data-based model can predict the future perfectly. Instead of relying on a single forecast, STYO is designed for scenario comparison. A simulation takes around ten seconds, so you can quickly test different assumptions, asset sizes, market participation rates and operating strategies and see how they affect the business case.

What if reserve market revenues fall?

STYO lets you adjust the assumed market participation rate from 0% to 100%. This allows you to test how dependent the project is on reserve market revenues and how the same setup performs if those revenues decrease or disappear completely. For example, setting market participation to 0% shows how the project performs based on energy revenues alone.

How much does STYO cost?

STYO is priced per user, per month:

  • €380/month for one Baltic country
  • €580/month for all three Baltic countries
